Separation Anxiety

Separation Anxiety is one of the most common issues pet parents face.

Separation Anxiety can have numerous causes and degrees of severity. If you Google "treating separation anxiety in dogs," you will get unlimited advice on how to help your dog. Some may work, some may not. The key to all anxiety issues in dogs is to know the cause of the behavior before searching for the answer.

There are several treatment protocols for Separation anxiety available. Each depends upon the underlying causes, the severity of symptoms, and your situation, which may limit our training options. Training protocols that require the dog to be supervised for several weeks may not work for you if you have to go to work on Monday.

- Getting another dog typically does not work

- You are not the cause of your dog's Separation Anxiety

- Destructive behavior is due to your dog's panic, not to punish you for leaving.

- Crates may help some dogs, but not all of them.

Some possible causes include:

- Lack of confidence

- Inappropriate socialization as a puppy

- Jealousy

- Owner vs. Dog Relationship Issues

- Sudden changes in the environment

- Age

- Diet and Physical Issues

- Prior Trauma
