What is a Behavior Consultant

Anyone can give themselves a title; choose a trainer who has earned a certification.  There are currently 18 Certified Behavior Consultants in the State of Wisconsin.

According to the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), a behavior consultant is an individual who has a practice focused on canine fears, phobias, aggression, compulsive disorders, and anxiety.  A CBCC-KA is specifically trained in finding the cause of the behavior to ensure a proper treatment plan.

Examples of behaviors who need a behavior consultant include:

Aggression, Separation Anxiety, Resource Guarding, Fear, Inappropriate Urination, Compulsive Behaviors, Hyperkinesis (hyperactivity), Leash reactivity, Prey Drive, Body Handling Issues, Relationship Building, and Abnormal Repetitive Behaviors (ARB’s).

My Background

My main motivation is to save dogs while teaching their owners how to hear what they’re trying to say. Reading body language is my passion.

Dog behavioral issues are not cookie cutter. Why is a dog is aggressive, destructive, or shy is different for every dog and should be treated differently, and that is why my training is so effective. I provide the right assistance to your dog's specific needs.

I’m a Nationally Certified Behavior Consultant, Nationally Certified Dog Trainer, and Certified Dog Bite Prevention Educator.

I believe in using positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques to reduce unwanted behaviors, increase positive behaviors and develop lasting relationships.

Pam came to us on a referral to work with my Bella, a 2 year old rambunctious Golden Retriever. As a true professional she evaluated Bella and bonded well with her, as well as myself. In a short period of time the positive change with Bella was noticeable and rewarding. Still not sure if Pam is training Bella or myself...probably both!”
